Established in 2010 the Free Space Gallery works with local and national artists within the unique setting of the Kentish Town Health Centre and the Queens Crescent Practice, two NHS facilities in North London. The Free Space Gallery delivers a programme of free exhibitions, free creative workshops, art therapy, an artist in residence programme, Drawing for people with Aphasia and Dance for People with Parkinson’s. The Free Painters, Sculptors and Printmakers (formerly the Free Painters Group) has a unique place in British Art. The group was established in 1952 and was originally associated with the ICA (Institute of Contemporary Arts.) The founding members featured many high profile and influential artists, including Roy Rasmussen, Lyall Watson and Maurice Jadot. During the 1950's and 60's FPS played a significant part in the establishment of abstract art, being the first of a number of post war movements that freed artists from the orthodoxy of rigid and purely technical judgements. The current FPS members consist of an international collective of up and coming and established artists who hold group exhibitions two times a year in some of London's most exciting commercial galleries. www.freepaintersandsculptors.co.uk/
