Brent Planning Committee controversially approved consent for the demolition of Electric House despite the fact that it was in a conservation area, they also agreed for the building of a new residential development together with a new retail unit on the site. After this approval, the owners, Network Stadium Housing Association kindly gave the artist a short window of time in which to access the installation before the building was handed over to the contractors. On the 2nd and 3rd October 2013, about 70% of the Stitched Offices Installation was cut out and removed from the first floor. It was transported to a temporary studio space in Camden where in a short time restoration and conservation works were completed to allow for transplant of the installation to other exhibition spaces elsewhere in the future. Images in this gallery document the final demise of Electric House and the process of the rescue of the original Stitched Offices Installation. These activities were also filmed by Nicholas Motte and a short documentary telling the story of the process will be available in due course.
